The Workable Life

Esoteric Astrology is not fatalistic or deterministic. The discipline rather deals more with potential, probability and opportunity. The classes that most opened my mind in my undergraduate and graduate studies were quantum mechanics and statistical mechanics. The cascade of insights that were precipitated in those classes were rekindled in my early studies of astrology. In quantum mechanics there is a mathematical concept known as the wave function. The wave function defines the state of a system and it concentrates the probabilities of observed expression within the system after it has come into existence from a place of infinite potential. In my experience, the natal chart of an individual can act as the wave function for a life. It does not define the life in some immutable or deterministic fashion, but it lays out a course of direction that offers a path of least resistance (areas of greater probability) through which growth of consciousness can be readily achieved. That does not mean the path is without considerable challenges, even painful at times, but a path from which we can extract meaning and growth. Astrologers with many areas of expertise can facilitate the ability to find meaning and direction indicated by the birth chart and the energies that continue to play within the life expression as we move forward over the years.
