Experiencing Belonging

A meditation for the passage of the Sun through Cancer, with special emphasis upon the occasion of Solstice

Place yourself in a summer garden at nightfall. The moon is glowing above, and the sea lies beyond its walls.

Smell the roses as they offer up their scent.

Throughout their lives all human beings give out their own emanations which, like the scent of the rose, the violet, the honeysuckle - whatever flower you care to call to mind, - is the result of receiving and processing planetary influences. Your emanations, with those of all other members of nature’s kingdoms, enter the Earth’s body. 

Regardless of who you are, how conscious you are, how much enthusiasm you have for life, or whether the will you bear the planet is good or ill, this payment is made every day of your life. Whilst you live, your toil and tears put the salt into the seas and oceans. And when you die the moon will call back your etheric substance.

All this relates to your physical vehicle, not to its indwelling consciousness. What journey that will make in the course of a lifetime will depend upon individual factors: the design of the personality and the degree of receptivity to the voice of the soul. But what you emanate from your physical vehicle is a consequence of belonging to the human family.

Through the month when the Sun is moving through the sign of Cancer, reflect upon the planet to which you belong, the family into which you were born, those who raised you, your country, race and culture. In this cycle of human development, these settings provide a man with a place from which to embark upon his quest for his own truth.

Before they can reach their end

All journeys in consciousness

Have to turn towards the past once more

And send back peace.

Rid yourself now of any negative thinking towards those who brought you in and have nurtured you. Send it out with the tide, so that for this opportunity in incarnation gratitude alone remains in your heart. And in these fast-moving times, which are often disorienting to the personality which likes continuity, rest awhile in the sense of history and belonging.
